One in two travellers uses metasearch to find their ideal hotel, but many hoteliers still wonder how metasearch works, and how they can benefit from it. trivago is a leading global hotel metasearch site that receives 1.4 billion visits each year from the millions of travellers who use trivago worldwide. But what is a metasearch exactly? Metasearch sites aggregate information from across the web to present all the options to the traveller in one place, saving them time and effort when they’re looking for the ideal hotel for the best price.

Your hotel content impacts the performance on trivago

Having an accurate, updated and detailed profile is the first step to succeed on metasearch. When travellers search for a hotel on trivago, they filter for certain hotel details and look at your content before they make a decision. There are three types of content you can update for free on trivago Hotel Manager: written content, visual content, and hotel details

  • Written content starts with a unique and engaging hotel description, preferably translated in various languages to reach travellers worldwide. Make sure to have translated description checked by a native speaker to avoid spelling or grammar errors.

 

  • Your visual content is all about hotel images that should show a variety of areas of your hotel. Make sure to add at least 20 photos on your profile, so the traveller gets a good idea of their future stay. The images on your hotel profile should be of high quality, meaning they should have the right lighting, the right angle and most important of all; a high resolution, so at least 2000 pixels wide. Profiles with high-quality photos receive 63% more clicks than profiles with low-quality or no photos. Don’t forget to select your main image for your trivago hotel profile. If you don’t, a main image will be selected for you!

 

  • And then hotel details; amenities services, accurate location and room types help match your hotel to travellers’ specific needs, which they’ve indicated via the filters on trivago. Make sure to include the hotel details of your hotel via trivago Hotel Manager, so you are found for all your accommodation has to offer.
