The trivago Awards 2018: Who’s in the Running?

This month, trivago will reveal the hotels that represent the very best of hospitality.

A leading global hotel metasearch and an independent source of hotel information, trivago uses the trivago Rating Index (tRI) to help travellers immediately gauge a hotel’s reputation. A comprehensive and reliable index of hotel ratings, the tRI aggregates millions of guest reviews from across multiple online sources and uses an algorithm to provide a dependable and impartial score for each hotel.

Every year, trivago uses this data to determine which hotels have had the highest consistent ratings in various categories. To publicly recognise and applaud this achievement, trivago presents the top-rated hotels with trivago Awards. It’s the highest endorsement trivago gives to hotels.

So be sure to check back here on November 14 to discover this year’s trivago Award winners for the following categories:

  • 3-star hotels

3-star, 4-star, and 5-star hotels

A good breakfast buffet or a comfortable hotel bed alone do not an award-winning guest experience make. There are many aspects that go into a top-notch, top-rated hotel stay, from the location of the property to the amenability of the staff, the value for money, and everything in between.

The hotels that receive the highest ratings and most rave reviews do so because they excel at every aspect of the guest experience. In addition to a stellar online reputation, their efforts could also win them the distinction of a trivago Award for their star category.

Alternative accommodations

Many travellers today are looking for a hotel stay that breaks with tradition, yet still delivers on the promise of an exceptional guest experience. The accommodations that can best meet both these expectations, balancing exciting novelty with classic hospitality, leave a positive and impactful impression on their guests.

Value for money

For guests, the experience of a hotel stay should be well worth the money spent on it.

Providing high-perceived value — without compromising profitability — is something top-rated hotels do exceptionally well. They offer additional benefits and services that don’t break the bank, but do carry high-perceived value and greatly enhance the guest experience. Hotels that surprise and delight guests are the most memorable. They also make up the group of hotels being considered for a trivago Award in the category of value for money.

Chain hotels

There are many reasons why travellers opt to stay at chain hotels: the convenience of multiple locations and the perks of good hotel loyalty programs chief among them.

Guests also expect a level of consistency in the offerings from hotels belonging to the same brand. At the same time, however, these hotels are constantly vying with one another for the claim of offering the best guest experience in the whole chain.

The chain hotels able set themselves apart by creating a guest experience that both adheres to the standards and values of the chain and goes above and beyond in satisfying the guests earn themselves a stellar online reputation — and consideration for a trivago Award.
